Habitica Resolutions

Show-and-tell time!

So, a few months ago I decided that it was time to kick my #adulting status up a notch and really commit to developing a well-rounded routine and cultivate/cull some life habits. I researched techniques, tested apps, and quit before I got started more than once. I often found many of the methods to be overwhelming or (mostly) un-motivating. Enter Habitica.

Habitica is an app that keeps my daily routine, my habits, and my elusive to-dos all accountable in one place and motivates by gamifying the progress. Although I have not considered myself much of a gamer, I am a list-maker and am very reward driven (who isn't?). And when I get a reward every time I check something off a list, that's even better. (It helps that I can make my Habitica interface FULL of checkboxes. Well played, developers.)

So many checkboxes...

Habitica is more than an app though; it's also a community. There are your standard challenges you can participate in to Drink More Water or Read More Books (all good things, all good things), but you'll also find ways to learn more about the different cultures, teach yourself a new language, and be more compassionate to your neighbor. My favorite technique I've picked up thus far is pomodoro! 🍅🍅🍅

So overall, Habitica is a great tool to help you just #dobetter at life! I joined a New Years Countdown Challenge that led me to re-start my blog! I've been saying that I wanted to get back on this thing for *years* now. And yeah, so, I didn't restart it by the end of 2016, but Habitica has kept me motivated and taught me to be forgiving of myself. And look where we are today. I plan to continue using Habitica to hold me accountable to keep blogging, keep taking the stairs, keep wearing my retainer every night, keep trying different book genres, keep going to my yoga classes, and keep striving to be a better human being. So, happy 2017! There's a lot we can't control in this world, but I hope that you find the hope and motivation to make it the best that YOU can for yourself and for others. #habiticaresolutions

Has anyone else ever heard of Habitica before? Are there any other #lifehacks you've had success with? I'd love to hear about them. ALSO, if any of you join Habitica and want to be in a party together, I'd love to conquer the Basi-list or the Feral Dust Bunnies together!!!
